Boring hobby musings...and a Test Run...

I had originally planned to write a post about a big name in the hobby, whom I have "known" since she was a little name...and I'm still going to write about her...but now I also want to talk about something else.

Like many bloggers, I have a list of ones I read on a fairly regular basis.  I check them maybe twice a day but sometimes only once or twice a week.  It depends on when I remember to.  And because they're all hobby blogs, many of us write about the same things, especially when the Breyerfest reveals start happening or there's a Web Special or something.  As many of my regular readers know, I like to try to keep my content fresh and interesting.  Now, I'm not saying others aren't after the same thing because I know they are.  What I mean by "fresh and interesting" is...I don't want it to be the same as everyone else's.  And usually I'm pretty good at that.  I'm fortunately in that I work at a job where I can periodically, albeit surreptitiously sometimes, check the Breyer website and Blab for news during the day.  If I see something new, I check my "Blog Roll" (that's what they call it) and see if it's been covered already.  If it has, then by how many will dictate whether I will or not.  This BF season of sneak peaks, I've been lucky in catching the Sneak Peaks within a few minutes of them being posted to the website, but then Breyer through a wrench into the works.  They released 3 in a row then took almost a week before revealing the first one.  Then they revealed the 3rd one at BreyerWest before going back and revealing the 2nd one.  By the time I discovered the 2nd one had been revealed, a couple of other bloggers already had so that kind of took the wind out of my sails, although to be honest, my sails had already been pretty much deflated with the 3 sneak peaks with no reveal.  But that's on me and nobody else so please don't think I'm trying to get sympathy or blame anyone or anything like that.

And complaining about it isn't even the purpose of this post either.  It's actually to point out how different people post about the same exact thing, but in different ways.  Like, if I had posted about the new reveal from yesterday, I would've given my opinion on the "Perlino Cremello Rollo Taco Brishen" and said I had no plans to get it then be done with it.  The two other blogs that I follow (I follow more than two others but these are the only two that posted about it) went at it two different ways.  One was kind of how I would've posted and said she wasn't real sure on the color, but hoped to get her hands on one.  The other person was more like "you already have enough Brishens" but at the same time it's a "Perlino Cremello Rollo Taco" color (the Rollo Taco are my words, not theirs) then went on to give a short history on the mold.  I just think it's kind of funny how three people would see the same horse and have three different blog posts about it.  I'm including myself in the 3 since I had intended to post the reveal.  Aw heck, I guess I will anyway...
His name is Faugh-a-Ballagh, but all I can think of is Fa la la la la la.  As in Christmas music.  Deck the Halls.  I think I would have to name him Rollo Taco, though, if I somehow ended up with one.  Not that that's ever going to happen because I don't care for the mold.

Well, this post is relatively meaningless. hahaha.  I was going to continue on with my original idea and had even typed a bunch of it out, but decided to delete it.  Trust me, it wasn't anything exciting.

None of the ideas that are coming to my head are very interesting ones and one could potentially cause some hurt feelings so I'm not going to bring it up.  I guess I should end this here.    I need to come up with some interesting content or nobody will want to read this thing anymore.  But I may have just come up with an idea for next week.  So, YAY!

Till next time...

Well...here we go...an edit on my earlier post.  On Facebook I saw Breyer had posted a new test run.  And it's actually on a mold I like...Stud Spider.  Regardless, though, I don't like the price so I won't be entering for a chance to win...

  1. Brenda Blog! I enjoy your blog very much. I like the Jake adventures-I found them highly amusing. I understand what you mean about multiple bloggers writing on the same horse when it is released. I don’t mind it. As you said, different people will write about the same thing but put their own spin on it. Besides, the ‘idea’ of writing about a newly released item doesn’t belong to any one person...for example, on YouTube tons of people do reviews on the same product, even when the product has been out for awhile. Oh and speaking of Breyer and their releases, they just popped up a new test run up. I really like this one-it’s on good ol’ Stud Spider!!!
I love the name Fa la la la la, la la la la for the new BF reveal. Only you cannot say the name, you have to sing it. Lol!

    1. Thank you for stroking my ego a bit. :D I'm glad you enjoy it so much, especially the Jake Adventures. He'll be back so don't worry.

I saw the wedgewood blue Stud Spider on Facebook. If he wasn't so darned expensive, I'd enter to win because I conga the mold.

  2. Oh yay! Good to hear more Jake adventures to come! Yeah, Jake's screenwriter and picture scene developer is hilarious! HAHAHA!

Yeah, i would have loved to have won that Stud Spidy Test as i, too, conga the mold! Thankfully he went to a good home, though! ;)

And i am in agreement with Equuis Of Antiquity! i think everyone has their personal spin and or takes on things which further enriches the model horse experience and how can we possibly talk TOO MUCH about model horses, right?! HAHAHAHA! So Blog on our fearless Blogger Brenda!!

    1. Well, the way I look at it is...who wants to read multiple blogs on the same subject? Obviously not model horses in general, but like a specific new model. That's why I try to keep it interesting and different.

And y'all better stop asking for more Jake Adventures. His ego is big enough as it is! hahahaha.

Yeah, I'm glad the test Stud Spider went to a good home, too.
