Models from "Breyermess"...

Well, yesterday my Special Run models arrived from last weekend's "BreyerMess", but I didn't open them until today.  And for the record, I still haven't opened the box with Ballynoe or the Stablemate set.  I have no place currently to put the cardboard boxes once I'm done.

Anyway, I was fairly lucky with my two ticket times.  My #1 wanted model was Epona and got that one on my Friday "trip through the line"
She came in a braided mane/tail version as well as loose.  I got the braided version, which I am happy with because I think it looks more polished and it's just my preference.

For my Sunday line, I don't remember which models I put in which order, but I ended up getting Oak...
I had made plans to trade with someone for a glossy Thorn, but I may just end up keeping him.  I obviously like him or I wouldn't have put him on my list.  I don't know.  He's pretty neat.

I also got to Slainte Surprise models.  My #1 pick was the leopard appaloosa and I am happy to say, that is who I got...
I didn't care if it was glossy or matte and, as you can see, I got the matte version.  My 2nd choice would've been the matte silver bay or the glossy palomino "paint" (most people don't seem to realize she's a paint lol).  But I didn't get either one of those.  Fortunately, I didn't get another appaloosa, but rather I got a glossy red roan...
I don't know if I'm going to keep her or not.  I'm not a huge fan of roans because the darker head "bugs" me.  The Slainte surprise head isn't super dark and she looks better in person than her promo photos, but I'm still not completely sold on her.  I'm looking at a couple of resources for what they're selling for on the secondary market, but most of the ones I've seen have been matte.  I think I've only found 1 that is glossy and I don't want to price myself out of the market.  Maybe I can find someone willing to trade an Acadia... hahaha.  Of course, since Acadia has been out for a couple of years now, it's doubtful I'll be able to find one in super good condition and the Slainte is pretty close to being mint.  I am in no big hurry, although the longer she stays here, the less likely it is that I'll sell her.  hahahaha.  Not that I have anyplace to put any of these models, which is why it's tempting to just sell all of them.  I won't, but it's tempting.

In other Breyer news...not that what I just posted was "news"...there's another model in the Berries series.  First introduced in 2016, the Berries series introduced horse lovers to a sweet crop of berry-inspired ponies.  For 2020, we are expanding our berry patch with a farm-fresh herd of new ponies you'll be excited to pick!

One of the first fruits to ripen in the spring, strawberries are a popular and delectable treat native to North America.  As the plant grows, it sends out rooting shoots called "runners" to spread.  Before fruiting, strawberry plants are dotted with lovely, delicate flowers.
Our sweet Strawberry is a fantastic decorator model on the Hackney mold, and his coat was designed by Sommer Prosser.  This clearware model sports a soft, shaded pink coat that's adorned with strawberry designs and finished with blue interference.   I'm ambivalent on the Hackney mold.  I know I've had at least one or two over my collecting career, but mostly during the "gotta have it all" period.   I am, however, a huge fan of strawberries, but I won't be entering for a chance to win.  This isn't the type of decorator I collect.  I don't think I have any clearwear models, but that's not because I dislike them.  They just tend to have fancy-schmancy designs on them like Strawberry.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  Nothing super exciting is going on right now.  Until next time.

  1. shan, here. No offense but i am not going to go for the Strawberry pony! i liked that Breyer had all the "Berry Ponies" realistic and this new one is a deco. Not that i have anything against decos, it is just that this particular one is not my cuppa...

OOOOH! LOVE the horses you got! Epona is spectacular! May habe to seek her out someday! The Appaloosa Slainte is my favorite, too! i am glad to report i got her....times four, actually, hahaha! Matte or glossy works for me on the leopard Appy! But because i conga this mold, Giselle, i will be hunting the glossy roan pinto, both Palominos matte n glossy, the Silver Bay both matte n glossy!

Oak is adorable and i LOVE him! But now, at first, i did not want Thorn from Breyer's promo pix as i was afraid of his yellow-green undertones! But, it turns out, Thorn's undertones are more reddish and orange-brown instead of yellow-chartreuse-green! So i will be looking for Thorn both gloss and matte on the secondary...

  2. "No offense"? Why would that be offensive? hahaha. It's not like I sat there and said how much I loved the model. Oh well.

I have to mail out my Oak on Saturday along with your Mikayla. I had intended to do that this past weekend, but time got away from me.
